COWS DON’T GIVE MILK

*WEEKEND THOUGHT*

 *Cows Don’t Give Milk*

A father used to tell his children, “When you all turn 12, I’ll reveal the secret of life.” When his eldest reached 12, he eagerly asked his father for the secret. The father agreed to share it, but asked him not to tell his siblings.

“The secret of life is this: The cow doesn’t give milk,” the father said. The boy was puzzled. The father explained, “The cow doesn’t just give milk. You need to milk it. You have to get up at 4 a.m., go to the field, navigate through manure, tie the tail, hobble the legs, sit on the stool, place the bucket, and do the work yourself. The secret is that the cow doesn’t give milk; you have to work for it.

Many believe things are automatic and free, thinking they can just wish, ask, and receive. But life isn’t about wishing and receiving. What you get is the result of your effort. Happiness comes from effort, and lack of effort leads to frustration.

Teach your children early that the world doesn’t provide for them just because they exist. Instead, they need to work for what they want.

Remember: ‘Cows don’t give milk; you have to work for it.'”
