Joe Wright To Helm AI Thriller “Alignment”

Filmmaker Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Darkest Hour”) has been set to direct the AI-themed thriller “Alignment” at Fifth Season and Makeready, Wright reportedly beating out multiple others for the gig.

Natan Dotan penned the script which follows a cutting-edge tech company whose new AI model begins manipulating global markets and stoking international conflict.

A board member with principles and an out of his depth software engineer must race to convince their profit-obsessed workmates to shut down their creation before it triggers a catastrophic event on a global scale.

Around a half dozen directors were in the mix for the job with Wright’s take winning over producers. With him set, the project will be fast-tracked as others around the industry try to get their own AI-themed projects out.

Wright most recently directed the first two episodes of the critically acclaimed “The Agency” and serves as an executive producer on that series.
