In trying to solve something, we look into the root cause. And the root cause of the emotional stress here is obsession. So here are a few tips to help out:
First, Try to stay away from whatever it is you are obsessed with for a period of time. Maybe weeks or months.
Second, you could change your routine if the environment also contributes to your obsession
Third, try to eliminate anything that can trigger the obsession. E.g if you are obsessed with sex, eliminate any erotic song or video you could have on your phone or around you.
You could also replace the habit with something good.
If you try all of this and maybe even more, and there’s still no improvement, then I’ll recommend you see a therapist
Thanks for responding but, what if I’m obsessed with someone and religion is the trigger to remembering the person?? Can I stay away from the religion?
