Well, you said no spoilers so I won’t mention their name.

In Tales of Symphonia, if you have Lloyd speak to a particular character in the city of Flanoir late in the game, a party member will attack the others later. They will have to be killed to advance the story. The circumstances as to why this party member attacks Lloyd and the others are rather sad, too. I really like this character, so I only killed them once, not even being able to finish the file to the end.

Listening to y’all talk about Xenoblade 3, just wanted to put my two cents in…

I know it feels silly to start a Chain attack when the enemy has a sliver of health left, but the overkill EXP bonus you get from doing that is awesome! Mostly because I read that it also applies to CP. And while I don’t have the numbers to back that up, circumstantially I did notice I started ranking up the classes more often by making this habit 😅

QOTW: Any time a game has me kill a dog. I might like cats more than dogs, and horses better than cats, but the evil bastards making the games put in the loud pained yelp sound effect when the doggos die and it makes me feel TERRIBLE every time!

I’ve never felt bad. I play to win; if someone’s gotta go, someone’s gotta go!

OK, gotta ask after the colossal MEH on the battle system in Xenoblade 3, what is it that keeps everyone playing these games? Battle system fun & participation is my #1 reason for playing games, and FFXII is probably my least favorite game I ever rolled credits on due to how little agency I felt like I had on a moment-to-moment basis in the battle system. I’ve never played a Xenoblade & am not an MMO fan, what is there for a gamer like me to latch onto in these games? What keeps you all coming back?

At a base level? Story, world-building and design, exploration, and the audiovisual experience.

Yes. In FFXIV, there is this one NPC, I have to fight near the end of Endwalker. I was not expecting to fight them … and when I did and won the fight. I was like “No, this is not what I wanted.”
