‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Canceled After Three Seasons

The series released its 10th and final episode of its third season in January

The Sex Lives of College Girls is shuttering its school doors at Max after three seasons on the streamer. Max will not be producing additional episodes of the coming of age drama, co-created and produced by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble.

Despite the show’s cancellation on Max, announced Tuesday, Warner Bros. Television is looking to keep the show alive on neighboring streamers. Kaling, for example, has a working relationship with Netflix. She co-created the Kate Hudson-starring series Running Point, released on Netflix last month, and the popular drama Never Have I Ever. A rep for WBTV declined to comment.

The Sex Lives of College Girls, which follows college students at New England’s prestigious Essex College, released its 10th and final episode of the season in January. The show said farewell to one of its series regulars Reneé Rapp, who played Leighton, in its third season. In the second episode, friends Bela (Amrit Kaur), Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) wish her character goodbye after she makes the decision to transfer from Essex College to MIT. Other cast members in the series include Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers.

Other Max original shows include Hacks, which is set to release its fourth season in May, And Just like That, which is releasing a third season later this year. Shows have migrated from streaming platforms before. Warner Bros. TV moved the sci-fi teen drama Dead Boy Detectives from Max to Netflix. Despite being picked up by Netflix, the series was canceled after a single season on the streamer. In addition, Universal TV’s Girls5eva jumped from Peacock to Netflix after the release of two seasons.
