Nord Hands Over 50 High-Capacity CNG-powered Buses To FG

Earlier in the week, Nord Automobiles, announced the delivery of fifty (50) high-capacity, ultra-modern Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) city buses to the to the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Finance.

In a statement on December 2nd, Nord explained that the 50 CNG-powered “Nord CICA” buses were officially handed over to the Federal Government of Nigeria at the company’s assembly facility in Epe, Lagos.

“This milestone was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Finance and the deployment leadership of P-CNGi. We remain committed to building reliable mobility solutions that make life better, propels our economy, reduce emissions, all at the best value.”

Carloha, The Assembler of Chery Vehicles In Nigeria, Partners With FRSC For Ember Month Safety Campaign

Carloha Nigeria, the assembler and franchise holder of Chery vehicles in Nigeria, also announced its partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to drive awareness during the 2025 Ember-Months Safety Campaign.

This year’s campaign theme, “Take Responsibility for Your Driving: Stop Distracted Driving,” emphasises the importance of driver behaviour as the first line of defence against crashes.

Speaking on the initiative, Felix Mahan, General Manager, Marketing, Carloha, said:

“Our partnership with the FRSC underscores Carloha and Chery’s commitment to promoting safer roads and encouraging responsible driving habits, especially during the high-traffic end-of-year period.”

He added that although many Chery vehicles feature advanced safety technologies – including driver-assist systems, anti-collision and emergency brake assist, lane departure and distraction warnings, and multiple airbags – the company considers it essential to reinforce a culture of alertness, discipline, and personal responsibility among motorists.

NPF Deploy Special Team To Enforce Withdrawal Of Police Personnel From VIP Escort Duties

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) also announced the deployment of a Special Enforcement Team to ensure full compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive prohibiting the use of police personnel for VIP escort and guard duties.

The NPF, in a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer on December 6, said that the Force Headquarters has constituted a special enforcement team to monitor and ensure total adherence to the presidential order.

“On 6th December 2025, commencing at about 1000 hours, the enforcement team carried out an extensive monitoring exercise across key locations in Lagos State, including the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, the Domestic Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and several other strategic points.”

The Nigeria Auto Journalists’ Association (NAJA) also unveiled the shortlist of top contenders for the 2025 Nigeria Car-of-the-Year award ahead of this year’s event on December 16th 2025 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, beginning at 6 p.m.

The shortlist included Changan CS55 – the winner of the 2024-edition, Jetour Dashing and Chery Tiggo 8 — all three models being Chinese brands, signalling a profound power shift in the country’s fast-evolving auto market.

According to Theodore Opara, Chairman of NAJA, the 2025 edition reflects the dynamic transformation currently shaping Nigeria’s automotive sector.

“For the first time, Chinese manufacturers are not just competing — they are leading the pack,” Opara said.

“The quality, technology and market acceptance we’ve seen from these three shortlisted brands show how much the industry is changing.”
