Microsoft has made no secret of wanting to bring more of its Xbox exclusives to other platforms, and it sounds like Halo might finally be making the leap. The platfor- defining franchise will see its Halo: The Master Chief Collection come to PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 in 2025, according to gaming insider NateTheHate.

Suggested ReadingSpeaking on the latest episode of his show, the podcaster (who has a track record of sharing solid leaks) suggested that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be one of the major Xbox console exclusives coming to other platforms in 2025. “So games I have heard will be released multiplatform in 2025 beyond the obvious include Flight Simulator will come to PS5 and Switch 2 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PS5 and Switch 2 as well,” NateTheHate said. He added that Microsoft will be a big supporter of Nintendo’s unannounced new hardware in its first year, with other ports and updated versions of its existing Switch games as well.
But Halo in particular moving to other consoles would be a watershed moment for the sci-fi shooter that has long been as synonymous with Xbox as Mario is with Nintendo. Given the size of the PS5 platform and the expected first-year sales of the Switch 2, it could also be a huge boon to the decade-old multiplayer collection for millions of new players who may never have experienced the critically-acclaimed series in the past to come swarming to its servers.
The alleged leak comes amid a flurry of other rumors of multiplatform game-hopping in 2025. Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden suggested that Flight Simulator and Master Chief Collection will be far from the only Xbox ports flying to other consoles this year. “Way more than that,” he wrote on X. NateTheHate also said on his podcast that he would expect to see a recently rumored remaster of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion be released simultaneously on other platforms this year, as well as any anthology collection of remastered Gears of War games, should one actually turn out to exist (Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel is rumored to launch as early as the end of 2025).
Late last year, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said it hadn’t been decided if the next Halo game would be a multiplatform release, but that there were “no red lines” anymore when it came to the exclusivity of the company’s first-party library. Microsoft began this shift a year ago by bringing Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded to other platforms, and has already confirmed its big Xbox exclusive of 2024, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will come to PS5 less than six months after release. Doom: The Dark Ages and The Outer Worlds 2 are also already confirmed to be coming day-and-date to Sony’s console in 2025.
