After placing fourth in Miss Hong Kong 2013, Virginia Lau (劉溫馨) soon made her debut at TVB. Despite a slow start in her career, Virginia finally landed a heftier role in in Big White Duel 2 (白色強人II ) as Roger Kwok’s (郭晋安) ex-wife. Despite the role’s potential, Virginia’s career failed to gain any momentum. When her contract with TVB ended in August 2024, she made the decision to seek out her own opportunities as a free agent. After leaving TVB, Virginia landed a starring role in a new movie and will star in ViuTV’s upcoming reality television show.
Virginia attended a recent event alongside her boyfriend, Andrew Pong (龐景峰), to promote ViuTV’s Force of Love . When asked why she decided to not renew her contract, the 34-year-old replied, “I left because my contract ended. I’ve already been with the company for ten years and got a ten-year service award! It’s time to change my work environment a bit and figure things out on my own. I didn’t want to keep staying inside a greenhouse.” On whether she feels disappointed about her career trajectory without any acting awards at TVB, Virginia expressed, “I was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for my role in Big White Duel 2. I’m grateful for the opportunities TVB gave me. It’s not easy to win an award, as it all depends on timing. There are a lot of factors that go into it.”
In addition to new career opportunities, Virginia is also finding happiness in her new relationship. With their romance now confirmed, Andrew was asked about rumors claiming that his mother, Sharon Kwok (郭秀雲), is not supportive of his relationship with Virginia. Andrew responded, “I want to know about this too. Up until this point, Virginia and my mother have not met each other. We’re all very busy. They know about each other but have not officially met. I think they saw each other once when I was performing at an event, but that’s it.”
