Rosé’s “APT.” Becomes Fastest Song By K-Pop Act To Go Platinum In UK

BLACKPINK’s Rosé has just set more than one record in the United Kingdom!

On February 7 local time, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced that Rosé and Bruno Mars’ smash hit “APT.” had received an official BRIT platinum certification. According to the BPI’s certification thresholds, singles are certified platinum at 600,000 units sold.

Not only is Rosé the first female K-pop artist (including groups) ever to earn a BRIT platinum certification, but “APT.” has now become the fastest song by a K-pop act to go platinum in the United Kingdom, having achieved the feat in less than four months.

The previous record belonged to BTS’s “Dynamite,” which was certified platinum one year after its release.

Even including male artists, Rosé is only the third K-pop artist ever to achieve platinum status in the United Kingdom. The other two are PSY (who went platinum with “Gangnam Style”) and BTS (who earned platinum certifications for “Dynamite” and their Coldplay collab “My Universe”).

Congratulations to Rosé on her exciting achievements!
