Selena Lee Breaks Off Engagement

Engaged to long-time boyfriend, celebrity coach Anson Cha (車崇健) since February of 2021, 43-year-old Selena Lee (李施嬅) updated on February 9 that the two are no longer together!

Asks for Privacy for Her Ex-Fiancé

Sharing a photo of the ocean with a bouquet of flowers on her socials, she wrote, “Two months ago, Mr Cha and I made a decision—to take different paths for our future in a new way. I am grateful for the past eight and a half years of our journey together. We are both doing well. We made this decision with love, gratitude, and blessings for each other. Thank you all for respecting our decision and privacy.

Expressing her opinion that marriage is not the definition of happiness, she added, “What truly matters is how you cherish and enjoy the time spent together when fate brings you together. Meeting someone at a certain stage in life who helps you learn and grow, and whom you find worthy of love, is also a kind of happiness. Along the way, there is effort, sincerity, growth, and love.”

“No relationship is an absolute endpoint, and no separation is an absolute conclusion. So don’t be fixated on certain ideas or overly concerned about what others think to the point that it influences your decisions. Instead, follow your heart, listen to yourself, and choose what brings you peace and happiness,” she wrote, saying that she could not help sharing life lessons a la “chicken soup” for fans. Requesting for privacy, Selena ended her post with a request for privacy, especially for Anson who is not in the entertainment industry.

Drifted Apart Due to Career Focus?

Anson is a personal trainer to celebs including Chow Yun Fat and Aaron Kwok!Back in April, Selena admitted in an interview that she had been too busy with work to plan her wedding. She even considered using the wedding budget to purchase a property, as having a big wedding banquet wasn’t very important to her. Days ago, she was seen dining with friends, including good friend and actress Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), whom she called her “new vegetarian buddy”, along with Joe Ma (馬德鐘) and his wife.

Around the same time as Selena’s breakup post, her ex-fiancé Anson shared a happy photo of himself posing with a basketball sport celebrity. Asked about Selena’s relationship development in an interview on February 9, Joe Ma replied that he learnt about the news only through reporters, and wished Selena well.
