BYD Announces Comprehensive Strategy to Popularize Intelligent Driving Across All Vehicle Models

On February 10, at the “Eye of the Gods: Pioneering the Era of Intelligent Driving for All” intelligent strategy launch event, BYD Group President Wang Chuanfu announced that all BYD vehicle models will be equipped with advanced intelligent driving systems. Models priced below 100,000 yuan, those in the 100,000-200,000 yuan range, and those above 200,000 yuan, covering series such as Han, Tang, Song, Seal, Sea Lion, Dolphin, and Seagull will all be included.

Wang emphasized that the primary barrier to the widespread adoption of intelligent driving technology is its high cost, which has limited access for most consumers. Through its “Intelligent Driving for All” strategy, BYD aims to accelerate the popularization of intelligent driving and achieve full coverage of advanced intelligent driving features across its lineup.

Wang Chuanfu outlined three key strengths that position BYD to lead the charge in making intelligent driving accessible to all. First, BYD boasts the largest vehicle-cloud database in China. “If the data from one car is a drop of water, BYD possesses an ocean,” Wang remarked. Second, the company has the world’s largest engineering team, including over 110,000 R&D engineers, more than 5,000 dedicated to intelligent driving development, and its own AI supercomputing center. Third, BYD operates the world’s largest production and manufacturing base for new energy vehicles. Wang stressed that the popularization of intelligent driving is not just a technological challenge but also an industrial one. He predicted that within the next 2 to 3 years, intelligent driving will become a must-have feature for car buyers.

Wang further stated that advanced intelligent driving systems will soon become as essential as seatbelts and airbags: “In the near future, cars without advanced intelligent driving will be in the minority.” He also declared that 2025 will mark the beginning of the “Era of Intelligent Driving for All,” advising potential car buyers to prioritize intelligent driving capabilities when making their purchase decisions. “For those planning to buy a car this year, the first thing to check is whether it has intelligent driving features,” Wang concluded.

BYD’s ambitious strategy signals a significant shift in the automotive industry, aiming to democratize advanced driving technologies and make them a standard feature for consumers across all price segments.
