BMW’s profits fell sharply in the first six months of this year. It was hit by US import tariffs and underperformed in China, partly due to fierce competition from local car manufacturers.

BMW’s profit decline was notably less severe than that of its German competitors. In contrast, Volkswagen and Audi faced profit decreases exceeding one-third, while Mercedes-Benz suffered a staggering drop of more than half.

The German automaker’s net profit in the first half of the year was just over €4 billion, down 29 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. Revenue was approximately €67.7 billion, down 8 percent from the previous year. The car company delivered 1.2 million vehicles.

BMW has not disclosed the specific cost of US import tariffs for the first half of the year. However, the company is anticipating a decline in profit margins this year as a direct consequence of these tariffs.
