Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain Marks 10 Years with a Sustainable Journey

Nestled at the gateway to Qing Cheng Mountain, Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the theme ‘Dwelling in Moments Sustainably’.

The Resort is marking the milestone with a series of initiatives that highlight sustainability, cultural preservation, and community engagement.

Located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dujiangyan, over the past decade, the Resort has become known for its quiet setting among forested slopes and for a design that blends traditional Western Sichuan architectural elements with modern comfort.

With timber beams, rattan lighting, and understated interiors, the property emphasizes natural harmony over ostentation.

In January 2025, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas was recognized by Control Union, a certification body accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, for its environmental and cultural initiatives.

Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain has contributed by eliminating nearly 1.1 million plastic bottles since opening, using its own filtration and refill system.

Beyond operations, the anniversary program places focus on community partnerships.

Guests are invited to visit the Chengdu Bear Rescue Center, where more than 400 bears have been rehabilitated since its founding.

The Resort supports the center through fundraising, education, and projects such as its ‘Salute Andrew’ charity cocktail series in 2024, donating 20% of its sales revenue to support the center’s daily operation.

Visitors can even craft enrichment toys for the bears, helping to restore natural behaviors.

The anniversary also reaffirms Six Senses’ focus on wellness.

Programs include guided meditation and sound therapy in natural surroundings, Taoist-inspired excursions on Qing Cheng Mountain, and workshops such as crafting traditional osmanthus incense using flowers grown on-site.

These activities aim to reconnect guests with local culture while fostering balance and mindfulness.

Culinary offerings are also tied to the land.

Ingredients from the resort’s farm inform a seasonal menu developed for the anniversary gala, where Sichuan traditional flavors meet Western inspirations.

The menu was created with the ‘six spheres’ in mind—sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, and intuition—turning farm-to-table dining into a holistic experience.

‘Our 10th anniversary is not only a moment of reflection but also a new starting point,’

said Melissa Tang, General Manager of Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain.

‘We will continue to protect nature and culture with respect and ensure that sustainability remains the foundation of every guest experience.’

Set on 181 acres with a green coverage rate of around 85 percent, the resort features 130 suites and villas, multiple restaurants, and a spa designed around bamboo groves.

Located about an hour’s drive from Chengdu, it offers access to both Shuangliu and Tianfu International Airports.

The anniversary celebrations reinforce Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain’s role as a model for integrating hospitality, cultural heritage, and sustainability, inviting travelers to engage with the natural and cultural landscape of Sichuan in new ways.
