The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games October 2025

3 Up, 3 Down – October 2025
October 2025 was the crazy stacked month we all thought it was going to be. It’s always the most packed month of the year for video game releases, and thankfully lots of them were fantastic. We had several games score over 90/100, two of which we didn’t have room to include in The Good section this month. Don’t sleep on the fantasy-themed boomer shooter Wizordum, which scored 92. And PowerWash Simulator 2 scored 94. Without further ado, here are The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games October 2025:

The Good
Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Yotei is the sequel to developer Sucker Punch’s open world samurai action game Ghost of Tsushima. It improves upon its predecessor in every way, to the point that our reviewer gave it a perfect 100. They concluded “From top to bottom, beginning to end, it is the epitome of what Triple-A game developers should strive for”. Ghost of Yotei is the highest scoring game in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games October 2025.

Hades II

Hades II is the sequel to Supergiant Games’ incredibly beloved Roguelite, Hades. It has the same isometric action gameplay, and proves to be just as addictive as the original. Our reviewer noted “Beyond the scavenger hunts and the excursions to the surface, this is a pretty familiar experience”. But they also felt that the original was a near perfect experience. Hades II was one of the most anticipated games of 2025, and its high score made it an obvious inclusion in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games October 2025.

Ninja Gaiden 4

Ninja Gaiden 4 is a big deal because it’s the return of the beloved Ninja Gaiden action franchise. But it’s also a big deal because it’s a team up between beloved action game devs Team Ninja and Platinum Games. There aren’t a lot of fast-paced third person action games these days, the likes of Devil May Cry 5, Bayonetta 3, and Stellar Blade. Genre fans are overjoyed to know Ninja Gaiden 4 is a hit. Our reviewer concluded “Its combat is visceral and incredibly fluid. Moving around the environment is more engaging than ever, making every battle a ballet of acrobatics and combat”. Ninja Gaiden 4 was one of the most anticipated games of the month, so its 90 score made it an obvious inclusion in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games October 2025.
