Wishlist Lapistasia Right Now
ExcelFish has announced the launch of the Steam store page for its debut title, Lapistasia, marking an important milestone for the upcoming puzzle and deckbuilding roguelike. Inspired by the success of Balatro, the studio introduced the page to give players an early look at the game’s mix of accessible mechanics and strategic depth.
Lapistasia builds its experience around an evolving 8×8 block puzzle that draws from familiar grid-based titles and expands the formula through a wide range of block types. Players use offensive blocks to deliver heavy damage, supportive blocks to restore health, and economy-focused blocks to generate coins. The system grows more complex as advanced blocks stack onto existing ones. Or as they bend the usual limits of the grid, creating room for layered tactics and unexpected combinations.
Another central pillar of the game lies in its relics, which serve as catalysts for scaling power. Each relic activates under specific conditions and often multiplies the effects of chosen blocks, turning simple actions into dramatic strikes. Some relics require minimal effort to trigger, while others demand timing. Yet both ends of the spectrum can lead to meaningful breakthroughs.
ExcelFish describes Lapistasia as a roguelike that rewards experimentation. It promises to offer straightforward mechanics that open into deeper strategies as players learn to combine blocks and relics effectively. A public demo will be coming out in February, and the studio encourages players to wishlist the game on Steam.
