BYD Wins the Global Champion of New Energy Vehicle Sales

According to the Yiche ranking data, in August, BYD won the global new energy market championship with an astonishing sales volume of 380,000 vehicles. This number not only far exceeds Tesla in second place but also leads by a whopping 240,000 vehicles.

It is worth mentioning that BYD’s sales even surpassed the total of brands ranked 2nd to 8th, demonstrating an undisputed leading position.

In the top 20 global new energy brand sales rankings, Chinese brands occupy a strong presence with 11 seats, showcasing China’s powerful strength in the field of new energy.

Looking back on the period from January to August, BYD’s cumulative sales reached 2.09 million vehicles, firmly holding onto the top spot with a remarkable lead of 1.03 million vehicles over second-place Tesla.

Among the top 20 global new energy vehicle brands by sales volume, Chinese brands also occupy 10 positions, demonstrating sustained strong competitiveness.

At the end of August, BYD announced its mid-term performance report for 2024. The report shows that in the first half of the year, BYD’s revenue reached 301.127 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.76%; net profit was as high as 13.631 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.44%. Among them, the revenue from automobiles, automobile-related products and other products business was 228.3 billion yuan, an increase of 9.33% year-on-year.

The announcement also pointed out that in the first half of 2024, BYD’s market share in new energy vehicles further increased, not only winning the domestic car sales champion again but also firmly holding the top spot in global new energy vehicle sales.
