As part of PlayStation 5 Pro’s launch week, Sony has revealed all of the games that will be “enhanced” by its $700 console on release – and Xbox’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has perhaps surprisingly made the cut.
Yep, Black Ops 6 is on Sony’s initial PS5 Pro list, which contains more than 50 titles that will be boosted in some way by the console. We don’t have any specifics on how Black Ops 6 will be bettered by PS5 Pro just yet – all we know is that the game will support Sony’s mid-gen upgrade later this week.
“Of course, crackling new power means little without immersive games to get lost in. This list is a sample of more than 50 games boasting PS5 Pro enhancements at launch, with many more to follow.”
Earlier today, we covered Digital Foundry’s Black Ops 6 comparison, and their initial findings showed that the base PS5 is already the best way to play the new COD, due to slightly smoother frame rates over Xbox Series X. Once PS5 Pro is out, we’d expect that to easily be the best console version of Black Ops 6 in the here and now.
All of this puts Microsoft in a bit of a tricky spot – although the Xbox owner seems to be familiar with that territory at the moment. We of course understand you want to get the most out of your game on all the platforms it releases on, but to say that the PS5 Pro version of Xbox’s flagship 2024 shooter will clearly be the best way to play still sounds weird.
Anyway, the good news is that Xbox Series X and S play this game just fine, and with a Game Pass launch to boot, we can’t complain too much here on Xbox. We just thought it quite interesting that one of Xbox’s biggest games of the year has made it onto Sony’s PS5 Pro enhanced list on day one!
