Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting its biggest update yet with 12 new subclasses

‘Patch 8’ for Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the biggest updates yet for the beloved role-playing game. It will launch next year and feature cross-play, photo mode, and 12 new subclasses.

When the update hits, you can join your friend’s campaign regardless of what you’re playing on, whether it’s a console or a PC.

Expect some homebrew action, with new subclasses for each of the existing classes. There are new cantrips, summons, abilities, and even new voice lines for the Oathbreaker Knight for Paladins. These subclasses are College of Glamour for Bards, Path of Giants for Barbarians, Death Domain for Cleric, Circle of Stars for Druids, Oath of the Crown for Paladins, Arcane Archer for Fighter, Drunken Master for Monks, Swarmkeeper for Rangers, Swashbuckler for Rogues, Shadow Magic for Sorcerers, Hexblade for Warlocks, and Bladesinging for Wizards. It’s worth mentioning that PC players already have access to many of these subclasses through modding, but they will now be officially added to the game. This also means that mods like ‘feats on every level’ will work with these subclasses because they’re officially in-game, as that mod doesn’t mesh well with modded classes.

BG3 will also have a new Photo Mode with camera settings, the ability to change your depth of field, focus, and exposure, and remove your party, enemies, and more from different pictures. You’ll also be able to add frames and choose from more than 300 stickers.

Larian will be stress-testing Patch 8, which will be available for Xbox, PlayStation and PC players. Larian is looking to begin stress testing in early January.

I was finally hoping to stop playing this game, but Larian keeps bringing me back. Along with a new mod on PlayStation that lets you be a Sith Lord with a lightsaber, I might never stop.
