Shatta Wale Reacts to Mahama’s Win

News

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has shared his reaction to John Mahama’s victory in the 2024 general elections. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the outspoken musician reflected on the outcome, referencing a statement he made before the elections. Shatta Wale highlighted the importance of leaders listening to the concerns of the people, suggesting that Mahama’s win was a clear message from the electorate.

In his post, he wrote, “Shatta Wale Once Said: When you take the people for granted, you will have the greatest shock of your life.” The dancehall star had openly supported Mahama ahead of the elections, even going as far as kneeling before the former president to ask for forgiveness in a moment that captured widespread attention. This act solidified his endorsement of Mahama, whom he saw as the right leader for the country.

The elections, which concluded on December 7, crowned John Mahama as Ghana’s President-Elect. On December 8, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia graciously conceded defeat in a phone call to Mahama, a move later confirmed by the president-elect in a social media post.
