After teasing its appearance ahead of the show, 2K has revealed that Mafia: The Old Country is coming to Xbox Series X|S in summer 2025! Yep, we weren’t expecting this one so soon – but we’re going to be experiencing Mafia’s origin story on Xbox in just a few short months.
The Old Country takes us way back to 1900s Sicily, to “uncover the origins of organised crime”. We’re quite looking forward to this one – especially after 2020’s Mafia: Definitive Edition, which was a gorgeous remake of the original title.
“Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.
Authenticity is at the heart of the Mafia franchise, and Mafia: The Old Country will have fully localized voice acting in Sicilian to match the setting and time period.”
For now, we don’t have a full release date beyond “Summer 2025”, but considering we’re about to roll into the new year here, we don’t have too long to wait for this one. Mafia: The Old Country will also be purely current-gen, and as a result, we’re hoping that developer Hangar 13 can flex its technical might in this Mafia origin story.
