‘I Would Have Left Ghana If NPP Had Won The Election’ – Blakk Rasta Says

News

Ghanaian musician and broadcaster Blakk Rasta has made a startling revelation about his frustration with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, sharing that he had plans to leave the country if they had won the recent elections. During an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, he disclosed that he had begun making arrangements to relocate abroad as he could no longer endure the challenges under the NPP’s leadership.

Blakk Rasta revealed that his dissatisfaction pushed him to explore opportunities in countries like Jamaica and the United States, where he traveled to prepare for a possible move. According to him, his decision was fueled by a desire for change. “We were just looking for change, and change is here. I was so fed up. I told everybody that should these guys win the election again, I would be out of this country,” he explained.

The musician also drew a parallel to Nigerian author Wole Soyinka, who famously vowed to destroy his American passport if Donald Trump became president. For Blakk Rasta, leaving Ghana was more than an emotional reaction—it was a sign of his growing frustration with what he described as the NPP’s poor governance.

Blakk Rasta did not hold back in criticizing the NPP, accusing the party of plunging Ghana into severe economic hardships. He expressed his relief over the election results, describing the change in government as a much-needed break for the country. “The NPP brought this country into severe economic hardships. We needed a break, and I’m glad a change has finally come,” he said.

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions from Ghanaians. While some have supported his sentiments, calling them a reflection of the frustrations of many citizens, others have questioned his decision to consider leaving the country instead of staying to demand change.

Despite the divided opinions, Blakk Rasta remains firm in his belief that the election results mark a turning point for Ghana. His bold statements have further fueled conversations about governance and the expectations of Ghanaians under the new administration.
