For some reason, the past few days have seen a flurry of rumors regarding the next “Spider-Man” film which will shoot in the back half of next year.
First up, scooper DanielRPK is reporting that “Furiosa” and “The Menu” star Anya Taylor-Joy is being “eyed” for an undisclosed role in the film.
It’s not clear if this is simply interest or potentially in early talks, but it fits with rumors the studios were looking into casting a new female lead and naturally speculation has arisen that the character could be Felicia Hardy/Black Cat.
Taylor-Joy has played with Marvel before as Magik in “The New Mutants,” and was previously rumored to be up for Silver Surfer in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” before Julia Garner scored the role.
Next, The Insneider is reporting that Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto may appear as one of the film’s main villains but admits he’s not as sure about this one as some others. He also says a secret project at Universal involving Cohen could derail this possibility.
Cohen is expected to make his debut as the character in next year’s Disney+ Marvel series “Ironheart”. Sneider seems more sure about a rumor that symbiotes will figure in a big way into the story, suggests Zendaya’s MJ will have only a minor role this time out, and Charlie Cox is returning as Daredevil.
It all comes as the other side of the coin at Marvel-Sony, their “Spider-Verse” films, have been in the news again over the social media postings of Miles Morales voice actor Shameik Moore who has reportedly deleted his accounts.
