Next “Superman” Tease During Puppy Bowl

Warner Bros. Pictures
Warner Bros. Discovery will reportedly use its annual Puppy Bowl event for a major marketing push for its biggest film of the year – James Gunn’s “Superman”.

The annual television program on Animal Planet mimics an American football game similar to the Super Bowl, but using puppies from shelters playing inside a model stadium.

The event, designed to raise awareness about adopting pets from shelters, is shown each year on Super Bowl Sunday with last year’e event drawing 12.6 million viewers across its simulcast.

THR reports that the event, taking place on Sunday February 9th this year, will see Gunn himself appear with his dog Ozu – who served as the inspiration for the superdog Krypto in the film.

In addition, Gunn will introduce a sneak preview of Superman and deliver a ‘special message’ to viewers. One pup participating in the game will be awarded a ‘Krypto Super Play’ award.

The 2025 edition of the event includes 142 puppies from 80 shelters, and will be simulcast on Animal Planet, TBS, TruTV, Discovery, Max, and Discovery+.
