Singapore has blocked over 3,800 illegal gambling websites

The government of Singapore has blocked over 3,800 illegal gambling websites, according to Minister of Home Affairs K. Shanmugam.

As of December 31, 2024, the Singapore government had blocked over 145,000 illegal gambling transactions involving the local public. These transactions amounted to approximately SGD37 million (US$27.0 million), according to a report by The Straits Times.

Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, the Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore, mentioned:

These blocking measures have impeded access to illegal online gambling to some extent. However, this approach is clearly not foolproof as illegal operators can easily create new websites, and we do not have the ability to know of every gambling website.

Since January 1, Singapore’s police have assumed responsibility for blocking illegal gambling websites, as announced by the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore.
