A Co-Playable Character is an NPC that adapts to you
PUBG and inZOI will soon implement this new concept
Details revealed at CES 2025
CES 2025 has certainly shaken things up within the tech sphere these past few days, and mobile is no different. For instance, one of the biggest announcements among many is the AI-generated “CPC” – a new concept that PUBG’s Krafton unveiled last January 8th. Before you think that’s a typo for an NPC, CPC actually means “Co-Playable Character” – this is essentially a Non-Playable Character that’s infused with generative AI, and it’s coming to both PUBG and inZOI.
It’s interesting how this new innovation will be implemented in inZOI, especially since this “Smart Zoi” will feature an emotional depth as well as personalities of their own within the upcoming sim. This will, no doubt, make interactions for the sim even more lifelike.
For PUBG, the “PUBG Ally” will also be able to adapt different strategies with you to boost player dynamics – whether or not that’s exciting or creepy is entirely up to you.
Crafted in partnership with NVIDIA ACE, this new concept will offer real-time conversations with players too, with scenarios that adapt to the current circumstance. “Our collaboration with NVIDIA is a testament to the transformative potential of AI in gaming, and we plan to work closely together to push the boundaries of what is possible,” says Kangwook Lee, Head of the Deep Learning Division at Krafton.
In the meantime, if you’re still looking for ways you can connect with actual human beings across the globe while waiting for the AI-generated ones to arrive, why not take a look at our list of the best multiplayer games on Android to get your fill?
