Lorenzo Rocco Gangala, former star of the reality television show Jerseylicious, which followed the lives of workers at salons in New Jersey, has died, former castmates confirmed.
Tracy DiMarco, formerly of Jerseylicious herself, confirmed Gangala’s passing in a series of posts to her Instagram story.
DiMarco shared a then-and-now compilation of herself and Rocco.
“Fly high Lorenzo, taken way too soon,” she captioned the video.
No cause of death for the former reality tv star has been stated.
Rocco was one of the main cast members on Jerseylicious but left the show in 2012, five years before it ended. Rocco, who had Italian roots, was a businessman through and through and following his exit from the show, took up work as a landscape and construction supervisor in New York.
Gangala was educated at Rutgers University – Newark, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Gangala narrowly escaped death last year when in August, he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that left him in critical condition in hospital.
The motorcycle accident occurred in East Orange and involved two motorbikes. Officers arrived on scene to find the bikes with their riders thrown off. They were both transported to hospital where Gangala fought for his life.
Photos he shared from the time showed his completely precarious state of life at the time. He survived and gave thanks to God, writing on Instagram: “On August 27 my life completely changed. Some may say I was lucky but the truth is I saved by the mercy of God and God alone.”
Gangala said despite being a believer, he had let the world come between him and his worshipper. He said he was sharing his story to inspire others to remain close to God.
“If this post helps one or two people get closer to God then I’ve done my job. Appreciate everyday you have because everyday is a blessing. If God saved a sinner like me, he will do the same for you,”
