Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on 20th January, 2025 during a ceremony held in Washington, D.C. The day kicked off with Trump and First Lady Melania attending services at St. John’s Church, marking the beginning of the inaugural activities.

Due to chilly weather, the ceremony was moved indoors, where Trump took the oath of office under the Capitol rotunda, with Chief Justice John Roberts administering the oath. Trump used a Bible given to him by his mother, resting it atop the Lincoln Bible, symbolizing the tradition of the office.

In his inaugural address, Trump proclaimed, “The golden age of America begins right now,” and vowed to reverse what he called the “horrible betrayal” of the previous administration. He outlined key promises such as deploying military personnel to the southern border, ramping up oil production, and enforcing stricter immigration policies.

Trump’s return to the presidency is historic, making an unprecedented comeback after facing impeachment, criminal indictments, and assassination attempts. The inauguration, which took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, saw Trump promise to work toward realizing King’s dream of unity and equality.

The ceremony marked the start of a new chapter in American politics, as Trump and his administration prepare to implement significant changes to the country’s institutions and policies. Several high-profile dignitaries attended the event, including the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and Google’s Sundar Pichai.
