South African model Tshego Gaelae has made history by becoming the first Black woman to win the Mrs World title. The prestigious event, held in Las Vegas, USA, saw Gaelae triumph over strong contenders, with Sri Lanka’s Ishadi Amanda taking first runner-up and Thailand’s Ploy Panperm placing as second runner-up.
Her victory has been met with immense pride, particularly in South Africa, where the Mrs South Africa organisation which played a crucial role in her journey, celebrated her achievement with a heartfelt message, “From Soweto, to Vegas and now the World, @mrsworldpageant The Crown is Coming Home! Thank you to everyone who supported our Queen on her incredible journey.”
Gaelae’s accomplishment is a landmark moment in the world of beauty pageants. As the first Black woman to be crowned Mrs World, her success represents perseverance, empowerment, and progress toward greater diversity.
