A Nigerian lady recounted a violent incident in Umunede, Delta State, where two locals were killed by Hausa people in the bush.

Her story was shared in a video that has gone viral on the social media platform X (previously Twitter).

In the video, she shared how violence started in her community following an unforeseen act of aggression.

She highlighted that the Hausa community in Umunede has its own part of town and a mosque.

The people traveling to the farm consisted of two Mbiri boys and one Hausa man.

The attackers killed the two Mbiri boys but spared the Hausa man, who quickly went to tell the Mbiri community what had happened.

In their fury, the Mbiri people banded together and assaulted the Hausa part of Umunede, burning down houses and the mosque.

The conflict escalated. In revenge, some Hausa from a nearby village reportedly took more lives, which caused the Mbiri community to attack the Hausa area again.

When the Hausa people noticed the approaching danger, they ran away and found safety in nearby schools, which led to the schools closing as students escaped to protect themselves.

The woman also shared her distress in the video, stating, “What happened is that the Hausa people have a quarter in our village, and a mosque. Hausa or Fulani people have been involved in several kidnappings in this area. In a neighboring village, they killed two boys who had recently graduated.”

She continued, “It was three people heading to the farm that day—the two Mbiri boys and one Hausa. The two Mbiri boys were killed, but the Hausa boy was spared because of his ethnicity.”

“It was the spared Hausa boy who went to tell the Mbiri people that the Hausa had killed two of their own.”

“This angered the Mbiri people, and they came to my village, Umunede, where they burned down the Hausa quarter and mosque. But the matter didn’t end there.”

“Today, the Hausa in a nearby village began killing people again, and this led the villagers of the victims to come to Umunede and attack the Hausa community.”

“The chaos led to the Hausa fleeing into schools for safety, causing the schools to shut down as many students ran for their lives. Many mothers have not yet seen their children.”

As the video spread online, many people voiced their worries in the comments, sharing their views on the rising violence.
