Top level moves in Singapore and India lead this week’s review of personnel updates from around Asia Pacific, as SGX-listed IREIT Global names a new CFO and Bengaluru-based Embassy Group completes its takeover of the former Indiabulls Real Estate.
Singapore-listed IREIT Global announced to the SGX on 28 January that it has appointed Kevin Tan Heng Chew as its chief financial officer with effect from that same day. Now 43, Tan has been with the REIT sponsored by Tikehau Capital and City Developments Ltd since 2017, serving as head of investor relations and capital markets. Tan takes over the CFO role from Anne Chua Tai Hua, who had served in the position since August 2022 and is leaving the organisation, while continuing to take responsibility for investor relations.
Developer Equinox India announced on 27 January that Jitendra Virwani, chairperson of Embassy Group, has been appointed to a non-executive, non-independent director position on its board with effect from 25 January. The appointment follows the merger of Equinox, formerly known as Indiabulls Real Estate, with Virwani’s Embassy Group with that transaction having completed on 24 January.
Paul Gilsenan has joined Princeton Digital Group as vice president for strategic initiatives based in Tokyo, according to a LinkedIn update. Gilsenan joined the Singapore-based data centre developer and operator in January after just over two years as vice president for site selection and acquisition for Asia Pacific with DigitalBridge’s Vantage Data Centers unit, and also has previous experience with Amazon Web Services, GE and CBRE.
After just over two years as head of Asia debt for DRC Savills Investment Management in Hong Kong and Sydney, Steve Willingham has headed back to the UK to take up the role of head of global investment partnerships with the debt division of the investment management unit of Savills. Willingham, who started his UK role in January, also has previous experience with HSBC in Hong Kong and London, as well as with BlackRock.
Red Star Macalline Group notified the Hong Kong stock exchange on 26 January that it has appointed Li Yupeng as a non-executive director on its board with effect from an upcoming extraordinary general meeting of the company’s shareholders. Born in 1989, Li has served as director of legal affairs for Red Star’s controlling shareholder, Xiamen C&D Group, since March of last year. Li replaces Wang Wenhuai, who has resigned from the board.
Singapore’s Cambridge Real Estate Partners has hired Kylan Pang as chief investment officer, according to a LinkedIn update. Pang joins the investment manager after just over a year as head of fund management with Cella Management Logistics, an Indonesia joint venture between Warburg Pincus-backed NWP Property and a local investor. Pang also has previous experience with mainland investment manager CreditEase in Singapore.
Luke White has been promoted to vice president for investment management with Weave Living, based in Hong Kong, according to a LinkedIn update. White took his step up last month after a year and half as an assistant vice president with the residential real estate platform, and has now been with the Warburg Pincus-backed firm since September of 2020. White also has previous experience with Deloitte.
With Weave Living having rolled out a flurry of promotions in recent weeks, Bao Ling Sim, based in Singapore, has been promoted to vice president for finance and investment management with the company. Sim’s upgrade comes less than a year after she joined Weave as regional finance manager after 14 years with Frasers Property Limited in Singapore, where she had served most recently as assistant vice president for finance.
Christie’s International Real Estate announced on 30 January that it has entered the Hong Kong market, appointing Samson Law, head of local firm Proway Relocation and Real Estate Services, to lead its operation in the city. Law will manage a team of 10 agents with the luxury residential brokerage aiming to double that headcount within this year, according to a statement.
