Netflix has released a sneak peek of its upcoming drama “Melo Movie”!
“Melo Movie” is a romance drama about the journey of four young people yearning for love and pursuing their dreams in the face of relentless hardships. Despite their personal struggles, they find inspiration and solace in one another while overcoming their own traumas.
Choi Woo Shik will star as Ko Gyeom, an aspiring actor-turned-film critic who falls in love with Kim Mu Bee (Park Bo Young) at first sight. Mu Bee, whose name sounds like “movie” in Korean, is a film director who wound up in the industry due to her love-hate relationship with her cinephile father, who always put film before her.
The newly released preview captures a romantic moment between Ko Gyeom and Kim Mu Bee during their youth, before they later reunite as film critic and director years down the line. The clip begins with an obviously smitten Ko Gyeom shyly telling Mu Bee, “At first, you told me not to talk to you. But now, you’re even flashing me a smile.”
Mu Bee wearily replies, “Because it’s uncomfortable talking to people and getting closer to them.” When Ko Gyeom asks why, she responds, “Because they’re all going to leave someday anyway.” A puzzled Ko Gyeom asks, “Isn’t it hard always thinking about everything so negatively?” Mu Bee retorts, “Isn’t it hard always pretending to be so cheerful? I don’t trust people who only show their cheerful side all the time. Those people always turn out to be the first to leave.”
Ko Gyeom then muses in voice-over, “I think I finally know the reason I was always so curious about Kim Mu Bee.” Taking a step closer to her, he boldly asks, “Then… if I tell you my secret, will you like me? And not leave me?”
When Mu Bee doesn’t reply, Ko Gyeom awkwardly turns to leave—but at the very last second, Mu Bee suddenly grabs his arm and pulls him in for a kiss.
