Ademola Lookman deal off? Arsenal make big step to sign new winger

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman may not get a transfer to Arsenal as the Premier League club have opened talks with Nico Williams’ camp ahead of a potential transfer in the summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lookman has been brilliant for Atalanta since he joined the club three seasons ago. The Super Eagles forward has registered 50 goals and 22 assists in 111 appearances for La Dea.

Recall that earlier this season, it was revealed that the 27-year-old would leave Atalanta at the end of the season. Hence, there have been a lot of speculations about his next destination.

But it now seems that a transfer to Arsenal is out of the equation. According to GFFN, the Gunners have started talking to Williams over a potential move in the summer.

Arsenal recently appointed a new Sporting director Andrea Berta, and he has started making moves to fortify their squad ahead of next season.

In a previous report, Soccernet.ng reported how the club had decided to focus on signing Viktor Gyokeres instead of Victor Osimhen.

Now, if Arsenal focus on signing Williams, that will relegate a potential transfer for Lookman to the backseat, as they have other decent left wingers like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Despite the looming possibility that Arsenal will not try to sign Ademola Lookman, the Nigerian forward is not short of admirers.

The former Leicester City star has been linked with clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Nottingham Forest, Juventus, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

But according to Transfermarkt, Lookman’s next destination is likely to be Liverpool, as the Reds desperately need some attacking reinforcements.

The Nigerian forward is valued at a decent price, as most tip clubs can afford €60 million. As such, this will be an enticing deal. But for now, Lookman will look to finish the season on a strong note with Atalanta.
