Remaster? Remake?

Last month, an online rating was spotted for Resident Evil 6 on Xbox Series X|S, and although that’s not led to a formal current-gen announcement from Capcom just yet, another classic Resi game has appeared on the ESRB ratings board this week.
Resident Evil 5, 2009’s mainline RE title that heavily featured co-op in pretty much every aspect of the game, has been rated for Xbox Series X|S in the US. Here’s the rating posted online, along with the ESRB’s description of the title:
Now, we’re not exactly sure what this rating relates to – and until Capcom comes out and announces something, there’s no real way to know. Of course, Resident Evil 5 is playable on current-gen Xbox consoles thanks the backwards compatible Xbox One version, but there’s no specific Series X|S edition available at the time of writing.
As we mentioned in our RE6 post last month, it seems likely that if these things come out at some point soon they’d be simple ports rather than full remakes, but we’ll take them either way – especially if they’re technically enhanced in any way. Come on Capcom, it’s about time we heard more about what’s next for Resident Evil!
