Director Ram spoke emotionally about his latest film Parundha Po and the overwhelming response actor Mirchi Shiva received during its production. The film, released on July 4, revolves around a young boy confined within the walls of his house. One day, he finally gets a chance to step out with his father, leading to a heartwarming road trip on a bike. Through the playful character of the boy Anbu, the story explores themes of freedom and how children can inspire even their parents to embrace it. The narrative blends humor with a strong message about parenting in modern lifestyles.
Initially, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja was slated to compose the entire score. Due to scheduling conflicts, he only did the background music, while the songs were composed by Santhosh Dayanidhi. Director Ram expressed joy during the film’s first day first show event at Kamala Theatre, Chennai. He said he was initially worried whether the humor would land but was relieved to see the audience laughing and enjoying the film. He noted that this is a departure from his usually serious films, and it was fulfilling to witness such a warm response.
Speaking about Mirchi Shiva, Ram praised his performance saying, “This is an important film in Shiva’s career. He’s the people’s superstar.” He recalled how almost 4,000 people gathered to see Shiva during filming in rural areas, highlighting his popularity and relatability. Ram also appreciated Shiva’s comedic timing and emotional portrayal of a loving father, stating that audiences will now accept him in such fatherly roles too.
