This article discusses allegations of sexual harassment.
Over the weekend, news broke that Blake had filed a lawsuit against her It Ends with Us costar Justin, who also directed the film.
The suit makes a series of allegations against Justin and It Ends with Us producer Jamey Heath, including a claim that Justin attempted to “destroy” Blake’s reputation with a “social manipulation” campaign. You can read a detailed breakdown of the allegations here.
In a statement obtained by E! News, Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has since claimed that these allegations are “categorically false.” He also said that Blake’s lawsuit is an attempt to “fix her negative reputation.”
Now, Blake’s costars from the 2005 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants have publicly shared their support for her.
Sharing a joint statement to Instagram, America, Amber, and Alexis began, “As Blake’s friends and sisters for over twenty years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation.”
The trio continued, “Throughout the filming of It Ends with Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice.”
“Most upsetting is the unabashed exploitation of domestic violence survivors’ stories to silence a woman who asked for safety. The hypocrisy is astounding,” the statement read.
America, Amber, and Alexis went on to praise Blake for her “courage.”
“We are struck by the reality that even if a woman is as strong, celebrated, and resourced as our friend Blake, she can face forceful retaliation for daring to ask for a safe working environment,” the statement read.
“We are inspired by our sister’s courage to stand up for herself and others. Amber went on to say that she was a confidant for Blake throughout her experience filming It Ends with Us.
“I was a confidant for my sister Blake while she went through some of this experience. I remember how incredibly painful it was for her,” she wrote on her Instagram stories.
“I’m glad all of this has come to light with solid reporting and receipts,” she added before once again urging people to read the New York Times report in full.
