ChatGPT launches new briefing feature for Pro users called Pulse

Don’t worry, the feature will make its way to Plus subscribers at some point.

OpenAI, the company behind the widely popular ChatGPT, has announced that it is previewing a new feature to users who are subscribed to the Pro tier, which will give them a morning briefing.

The new feature, called Pulse, will conduct research throughout the night for users and send them a personalized morning update each day based on chat logs, feedback, and data from other apps, such as emails and calendars.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote in a post to Twitter/X that Pulse is his “favourite feature of ChatGPT so far.” Altman also noted that the feature points to what he believes to be the future of ChatGPT, and “a shift from being all reactive to being significantly proactive, and extremely personalized.”

Some examples Altman shared of the new feature’s usefulness include phrases like, “My kid is 6 months old and I’m interested in developmental milestones,” as well as scanning for cheap prices for a dream destination that was mentioned in passing conversation. Altman also noted that “useful updates” might be coming in the future.

This feature arrives at an interesting time for AI, as more companies begin to integrate it into their everyday workforces. A study conducted by Growclass and Angus Reid shows that approximately 42 percent of Canadians currently use AI at work, and Instagram is planning to use it to detect whether Canadian teens have signed up for an adult account.

Currently, the feature is only available to Pro subscribers; however, Altman noted that it will be introduced to Plus subscribers at some point.
