China, on Thursday, called on the United States (U.S.) to take positive actions, cancel relevant unreasonable tariffs, and create conditions for expanding bilateral trade.

He Yadong, a spokesperson for the ministry of commerce, made the remarks at a news conference in response to questions regarding potential Chinese purchases of U.S. soybeans and Boeing aircraft.

The biggest obstacle currently affecting normal China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation lies in the U.S.’s unilateral restrictive measures, he said.

He emphasised that the essence of the bilateral economic and trade relationship was a mutual benefit and win-win, and that the two countries shared broad common interests and vast space for cooperation.

It is hoped that the U.S. will work in the same direction with China to create favourable conditions for the stable, healthy, and sustainable development.

Development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations, according to the spokesperson.
