China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology establishes AI Standardization Technical Committee

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced the establishment of the AI Standardization Technical Committee, tasked with developing industry standards in key AI areas including model evaluation, datasets, software platforms, large language models, and AI risk management. The 41-member committee includes prominent figures from both academia and industry. Notable members include Ma Yanjun, General Manager of Baidu’s AI technology ecosystem; Judy Zhu Hongru, Vice President of Alibaba’s cloud unit’s standardization operations; Jiang Jie, Vice President of Tencent and head of its AI Lab; and You Fang, Director of Huawei’s Standardization Department. In addition to these corporate leaders, the committee has also recruited experts from leading AI companies such as SenseTime, voice recognition giant iFlyTek, Alibaba’s fintech affiliate Ant Group, chip designer Moore Threads, robotics company Unitree Robotics, and carmaker Changan Automobile.
