“Clayface” Movie Targets Spring Filming Start?

“Clayface” Movie Targets Spring Filming Start?

WBIE
Back in March last year came the news that beloved genre filmmaker Mike Flanagan (“Doctor Sleep,” “Hush”) pitched DC Bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran a feature film about Batman villain Clayface over at Warner Bros. Pictures.

At the time, it was said to be a standalone tragedy-laced horror/thriller project with no offers or deals in place, but the studio was open to ideas.

Now, scooper DanielRPK (via CBM) is reporting that the project is moving forward with Flanagan having completed the script and shooting is scheduled for next spring.

With Flanagan committed to directing his new “The Exorcist” film, he won’t be directing the “Clayface” film – only writing. It’s also not clear if the character would be a part of the DCU or Matt Reeves’ Bat-Verse.

The report follows comments from actor Alan Tudyk the other day who voices Clayface in the “Harley Quinn” animated series and confirms he’s playing a different version of the character in the DCU-set “Creature Commandos” series with the potential to appear in the live-action version.

Clayface has appeared in live-action form on TV series like “Birds of Prey,” “Gotham” and “Pennyworth”, but is most known via Ron Perlman’s performance in the 1990s “Batman: The Animated Series”.
