Concord staff pay condolence visit to Doyin Abiola’s family

In the last 48 hours, I was under great pressure following the death of Dr Doyinsola Hamidat Abiola, who passed on early this week.

As the administrator of the Great Concord Family platform, I was bombarded with inquiries and condolence messages. I had used my links to get the address of her daughter, Doyin Junior, to inform her of a visit by Concord Press staff on Sunday, at 2 p.m. A delegation made up of myself, Aliu Mohammed Olurotimi, Mr Asu Beks, and Mr Gboyega Amobonye set out for lekki.

Seated outside the beautiful residence were family members, friends, and associates of the late Dr Abiola. On arrival, I  immediately spotted Aunty Iyabo, the younger sister of Aunty Doyin whom I had met many times in the company of her late sister. She immediately recognised me too and told others guests that ” Concord Press people are here”. She took us inside the house to meet Doyin Junior, who was excited to receive us. She introduced us to her friends as “Mummy’s colleagues in Concord”.

We presented a condolence letter and the programme of the Great Concord family reunion, which took place in 2021, in which her late mum featured prominently. She was excited and immediately took us to other guests, saying, “Meet mummy’s colleagues from Concord.” After spending some time with her, she insisted that we could not leave without having something to eat. In a twinkle of an eye, a waiter served us hot small chops and soft drinks. We later interacted with the guests we met there, who paid glowing tributes to the memory of Dr. Abiola.
