June 05, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has felicitated Nigerian Muslims and the global Islamic community on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, devotion, resilience, and compassion that define the festival.
In a personally signed statement on Thursday, Tinubu described the Eid celebration as not only a period of merriment but a moment for deep spiritual reflection and national recommitment.
He called on Nigerians to draw lessons from the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
While acknowledging the economic challenges facing many citizens, the President assured that the most difficult phase is now behind the nation, expressing optimism that his administration’s bold reforms are beginning to deliver tangible results.
Tinubu stated, “We have weathered challenging times together, and I assure you that the toughest days are behind us.
“We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity, as promised.”
He noted that ongoing reforms were not merely targeted at macroeconomic improvements but were focused on transforming lives and securing long-term prosperity for all Nigerians.
Speaking further, Tinubu urged unity and empathy during the festive season, encouraging Nigerians to care for the vulnerable and embrace one another beyond religious and ethnic lines.
The President also sympathised with victims of the May 28 flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State, which led to the loss of lives and widespread destruction. He urged citizens to pray for the victims and support relief efforts.
Part of the statement read:
“Eid-el-Kabir represents the high point of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah—a period filled with opportunities for worship and good deeds. While the festival is celebrated with joy, its deeper significance lies in its call to sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness.
“To truly honour this season, we must embody these virtues, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Let this occasion renew our commitment to resilience, tolerance, and compassion, and to the progress of our great country.”
Reaffirming his commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians, Tinubu highlighted achievements in the health sector, infrastructure development, and economic recovery.
He said the Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on inclusive prosperity and building a sustainable economy.
“There are no quick fixes, but we are determined to rebuild our economy’s foundation once and for all,” he said.
He also called on Nigerians to remember security operatives on the front lines and to pray for the country’s peace and stability.
He added, “As we celebrate, may those who have more remember those in need, sharing love and support as true brothers and sisters.
“Let perseverance, sacrifice, loyalty, faith, and our shared humanity bind us together.”
President Tinubu concluded by praying that Almighty Allah accepts the worship and sacrifices of the faithful and continues to bless the nation with peace and prosperity.
