#EndBadGovernance: Parents Protest In Kano, Demand Release Of Youths Detained Since August

The #EndBadGovernance protests held from August 1 and 10 nationwide to register their grievances against the hardship under the President Bola Tinubu-led government.

Parents of youths arrested during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests gathered at the Kano State House of Assembly, calling for justice and the immediate release of their children.

Malam Nura Ahmad, speaking on behalf of the group, disclosed that about 70 youths had been arrested and transferred to Abuja, where they are reportedly enduring harsh treatment.

The #EndBadGovernance protests held from August 1 and 10 nationwide to register their grievances against the hardship under the President Bola Tinubu-led government.

The parent, Ahmad raised the alarm about the inhumane conditions faced by the detainees, stating that they had not been allowed to bathe since their arrest and are receiving only one meal per day.

The parents expressed their frustration at the lack of progress in securing bail for their children, stated that all efforts had been thwarted.

Additionally, they reported that the detainees had been denied access to legal representation, further compounding their distress.

Fatima Yusuf Umar, one of the mothers, expressed her anguish while recounting her last conversation with her son, who revealed that he was struggling to see properly due to the brutal treatment he was facing.

In response, the Majority Leader of the State Assembly, who met with the parents, assured them that measures would be taken to facilitate bail for the youths.

He also called on the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to intervene and ensure that the detainees are granted bail.
