Google TV recruiting ‘Advisors’ to give feedback, including on new features

Google has started to recruit a group of “Google TV Advisors” to help gather user feedback on the TV experience and new features.

It’s not uncommon for Google to ask for user feedback around its products. The company has, over the past few months, been running a survey on Google TV regarding the number of ads on the homescreen. But, with a new program, it seems like Google wants to take things up a notch.

In a new banner that’s appearing for some users on Google TV devices, Google is recruiting “Advisors” as a part of “an exclusive online community” that’s designed to help gather user feedback. The banner was spotted by Android Faithful’s Ron Richards, with a link in the banner revealing more details about the program, as was shared on Android Authority.

Google explains:

Complete this 3-minute survey to join Google TV Advisors, an exclusive online community where you provide your opinions and play a leading role in improving the Google TV experience for everyone.

It’s added that users who are invited to “Google TV Advisors” will be able to “participate in the development of Google TV through feedback on your experience” and access a “member hub” that includes “what’s new, hot, and coming to TV soon,” seasonal content collections, and information on “new Google TV features that are about to be released.” It’s not clear if these users get to test these new features ahead of release.

The program requires enrolled users to not share information about upcoming features and “may involve collecting audio, video, or photographs of you and your interactions with our products and services.”
