Solo developer Michael Janisch and publisher indie.io have finally announced the release date for Hauntsville. This upcoming Western open-world horror survival game taking place in 1897 is coming out on Steam on 10 March 2025. Additionally, from today onwards, players can try the free demo on the platform and explore the Curse West.

Hauntsville is the first game from solo developer Michael Janisch. He spent over three years creating a relentless survival horror experience. Set in the eerie isolation of the Old West, it combines open-world exploration and shooter mechanics, pushing players into a harsh battle for survival.

You’re a nameless traveler, stuck in an empty frontier town. The people are gone, the horses too, and the only sound is the wind. Then the howling starts. Something is out there, and it will not be long before it finds you. Best keep your gun close. In the Cursed West, the only things standing between you and the monsters are a steady hand and a loaded barrel.

This Western horror survival game is set in the heart of the American West. You start with nothing but the clothes on your back, facing the harsh frontier alone or with up to three companions. To survive, you will need to build a homestead, search the abandoned town for supplies, or live off the land as best as you can. But danger lurks in the darkness, as creatures from North American folklore are always watching, waiting for their chance to strike.
