He Disappeared After Our First Date

He Disappeared After Our First Date

I met Edwin when I followed my cousin to his mother-in-law’s funeral in 2023. My cousin introduced him to me as his work colleague. Everything began from there. When we spoke he told me he lives in the city. “I want to be your friend. Can I take your number?”

Our communication was irregular at first. Once in a while, we would check up on each other. But in November last year, everything changed. We began talking daily. WhatsApp messages, video calls, late-night phone conversations, name it. Before I knew it, we had established a routine. His calls became part of my daily life, and I made sure to reciprocate.

As we got closer, Edwin expressed interest in me. I had started liking him too. But one thing always stood in the way. He kept saying he couldn’t believe someone like me, a degree holder, could truly be interested in someone like him. He is a high school graduate. So he questioned if I could settle down with him.

Eventually, he opened up about his complicated family background. But I didn’t walk away. I stayed.

Yes, we had our fair share of misunderstandings. He would sometimes block me, only to unblock me and call back later. By then, I was already developing feelings for him so I put up with his tantrums.

He’s eloquent, soft-spoken, and gentle. That’s what I liked about him. But we both knew we couldn’t move forward without sitting down to talk about our differences and how to manage them.

First, he asked me to visit him in the city. I agreed. He wanted to prove he is a gentleman so he sent part of the transport fare. He asked me to hold on while he sent the rest. He is a mechanic, and business was quite slow. I understood and was patient with him.

Two weeks ago, he traveled to his hometown and asked me to meet him there so we could finally have that long-overdue conversation. I went, and he was exactly who I remembered him to be.

Nonetheless, his energy was off. I don’t know what changed after he saw me. Maybe I wasn’t as appealing as the women he’s used to in the city.

We never had the conversation we were meant to have. We shared a moment, a simple kiss that he initiated, but after that, nothing. He told me he had to go do something urgently so I should return home.

He promised to call but he never did. I have called him several times but I haven’t heard from him. He hasn’t opened my messages either. So I am leaving a message for him here.

Call a Friend and Ask For Thousand Cedis (A Prank)

Edwin, I just want to say that I got the message loud and clear. You don’t want me. You want nothing to do with me. I understand. I only wish you had been vocal enough to say it instead of letting silence deliver the blow.

I respect your decision. You were part of my life. I didn’t want to lose you but I’m learning to adjust to your absence. I just hope life treats you kindly wherever you are.
