Hela Will Surely Enchant You
Windup Games and Knights Peak have announced that Hela is launching in 2026. Originally revealed during a recent Nintendo Direct, it will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series S|X, PS5, and PC. This third-person open-world adventure game draws its inspiration from Scandinavian folklore. It promises to deliver a culturally rich, heartfelt story. Watch the reveal trailer right below to get a glimpse of the journey ahead.

From the creators of the Unravel series, Hela follows the journey of a kind Witch and her magical mouse familiars. Known for helping her village with healing magic, the Witch has now fallen ill. And now, players must step into the world to aid her. The game takes place in the northern Scandinavian landscapes, blending exploration, foraging, puzzles, action, and potion brewing into a quiet but emotional adventure.

Alexander Benitez, Head of Studio at Windup Games, shared his excitement: “We’re incredibly excited to be part of the Nintendo Direct and to finally introduce Hela to a new group of fans.” He also mentioned that the team truly believes Hela will be a perfect fit within the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup.

Echoing the sentiment, Knights Peak’s VP of Publishing Eugenio Vitale added, “The Nintendo Switch 2 and Hela are an ideal combination, not only because the console provides the perfect canvas for Hela’s heart-warming adventure.”

With its calm storytelling, magical creatures, and folkloric charm, Hela is shaping up to be a heartfelt addition to the next generation of narrative-driven adventure games.
