Next week, we have a chunk of big additions to the Xbox Game Pass service; one of them being brand-new day one release Lost in Random: The Eternal Die! Ahead of the game’s launch on June 17th, reviews have just gone live for this action roguelite, and it’s all sounding pretty good so far.

So, here’s a quick roundup of what the critics think of this upcoming Game Pass release:

Loot Level Chill (9/10)

“Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is a wonderful Roguelike with beyond incredible combat, and a seriously cool upgrade system. You’ll always be working towards your next permanent buff too, so death never feels too frustrating. It’s a shame it doesn’t feel a bit more random with each run, but despite that it’s well worth spending a bunch of hours rolling the dice with Aleksandra.”

Checkpoint Gaming (8.5/10)

“Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is a smart sequel. It leans on the original’s strongest elements in the aesthetic and stylistic choices, whilst moving the gameplay into a new and entertaining direction. It doesn’t do anything groundbreaking, though it does succeed at producing a high-quality product that feels good to play. Thanks to an interesting upgrade system and in-built chance mechanics, The Eternal Die stands out on its own and proves to be a game absolutely worthy of your time.”

GameReactor (8/10)

“Simple but effective and engaging combat, a neat story wrapped up in an interesting, quirky world. It makes Lost in Random: The Eternal Die a game that’s very difficult not to like, even for an aging grump like me who has all but had it with the idea of roguelikes, roguelites, and any other like or lite.”

GamingBolt (8/10)

“In a world where rogue-lites are a dime a dozen, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die stands out with its Relics system, fun combat, and solid presentation. It’s no Hades (and the similarities are too obvious to ignore), but it’s still enjoyable in its own right.”

COGConnected (7.9/10)

“Lost in Random: The Eternal Die isn’t literally a sequel, of course. It’s an interesting switch to a new genre, and a gamble that pays off. With its fast, challenging, colorful action and a unique setting, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die puts a compelling spin on familiar roguelike mechanics. Both fans of the genre and the first Lost in Random game should find plenty to enjoy.”

GamesRadar (3.5/5)

“Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is an enjoyable roguelike with satisfying gameplay loops, rewarding combat, and lots of features to unlock and upgrade, but the narrative-rich source material is overshadowed by a new focus on combat, largely wasting a concept ripe for more storytelling.”

At the time of writing, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is bringing in a Metacritic average of 78 and an OpenCritic rating of 82, which is pretty good going if you ask us. The title joins Xbox Game Pass next week, June 17, alongside a bunch of other exciting additions.
