In a change to how Google Photos shares images, a new “Quick Edit” page appears before sharing options appear. Here’s how to disable that page for quicker sharing.
Google has just begun rolling out a new function in Google Photos. Whenever users tap the share icon at the bottom of the image, the new Quick Edit screen will appear before sharing options are actually displayed in Google Photos. The screen gives a couple of options to the user, like an enhanced image option and cropping tools. The page itself really doesn’t offer much in the way of editing.
It genuinely acts like a last-minute editing tool, but it can easily feel like another hurdle prior to being able to share an image from their Android phone.
How to disable ‘Quick Edit’
Disabling Quick Edit in Google Photos is a matter of preference. If you find yourself making quick crops to photos before sending them off to friends or posting them, maybe leave the feature on.
If you tend to make edits before sharing anyway, the feature might feel like it’s in the way more than anything. Disabling the function takes a couple of quick steps:
Get the Quick Edit page to appear by hitting the share icon in the bottom left of the screen.
Tap the settings cog in the top corner.
Hit Turn off.
Once the feature is disabled, Quick Edit won’t show up when hitting the share button in Google Photos. The feature can be turned back on in the sharing settings if you change your mind. Again, this is all preferential and varies for users on a case-by-case basis. For some, the new Quick Edit screen might be worth keeping around. In any case, the disabling/enabling process is dead simple.
