K-pop queen IU saw her popularity soar again thanks to her Netflix drama When Life Gives You Tangerines. In addition to endorsing more than 12 brands, IU held a massive world tour from March to September last year, performing 31 concerts across 18 cities in 12 countries. The tour attracted over 500,000 attendees and sold out every show. Combined with her work in dramas and commercials, IU’s status and earning power is truly top-tier.
According to Forbes Korea, IU’s income last year was estimated at over 32 billion Korean won (approximately $22 million US dollars) making her the highest-earning celebrity in South Korea. Her income stems from a combination of music streaming, acting fees, concert tours, and endorsements.
IU also shows sharp insight when it comes to property investment. According to a recent announcement by South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, she owns one of the top 10 most valuable apartments in the country. In early 2024, IU moved into the luxury residence Eterno Cheongdam in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. The property was valued at around US $9.1 million at the time, but its value surged to a current value of US $14.3 million, making it the most expensive apartment in South Korea this year.
