Kick Revises Hourly Pay Policy with New Update

Kick, a disruptor in the streaming space and a company that has overtly challenged the dominance of Twitch, has passed new changes to its monetization polices.

Change in Hourly Pay Policy Makes Sense for Kick

Kick has become famous for the fact that it not only took a more liberal approach to what consumers may see on its platform, with specificity to gambling, but it also poached some of Twitch’s top talent, including influencers such as Adin Ross, xQc, Amouranth, and others.

The platform is similarly offering streaming a 55% revenue split, which has proven a strong incentive for many content creators who have joined the platform. Not least, Kick also features a $16 hourly pay for streamers who meet certain conditions.

However, Kick has now revisited its policies on hourly pay and has decided to exclude the Slots & Casino category from the equation, meaning that if you stream in this category, you will not be eligible for the $16 per hour pay.

Kick has made it to where Slots & Casino Streamers can NOT earn hourly pay in those Categories.

Although this may seem like a move that affects smaller streamers, Kick is still happy to split 55% of its revenue with anyone who meets the monetization criteria.

Furthermore, it addresses ethical concerns that by paying streamers to stream hourly, Kick could be inadvertently contributing to their spending more on gambling. This will no longer be an issue moving forward.

Community members who commented under Big E’s social media post, who is himself a Kick partner, were fairly positive about the change. Most said that it was the right thing to do, given how sensitive a topic gambling is.

“Gambling’s not content that you should get paid to do,” one user by the handle of FrankIRL said. Importantly, there seemed to be no significant change in public perception of the platform.

Kick Is Not Past Signing Gambling Partnerships

However, Kick is not going to change its model, which allows consumers to view gambling if they wish to. The platform uses advanced filters to let you filter through content that you think is inappropriate or that you simply do not want to pop on your feeds.

The platform also has a number of partnerships in place with prominent personalities from the streaming world who have been gambling on stream to promote various websites and products. xQc, Trainwrecks, Xposed, and Roshtein are some popular names that have gravitated towards Kick and found a new home there, streaming content.

Kick is open to all streamers and all casino contracts, although some of its biggest names have been teamed up with Stake exclusively.
